Baby It's Cold Outside

December has arrived! This means several things. First off, it is time to brush off the dust from those Christmas records and start playing Holly Jolly tunes of Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanza/Holiday music (pick your celebrated winter Holiday and insert it's music here).

Also it means that Baby It's Cold Outside Inside. My house is like a freezing icebox and I am cold 24/7. I can't wait to go home for break and be in 70 degree weather again.

December is also my birthday month so I will be celebrating during 23. Finally, December 1st means that we have exactly one month left before the blog will come to an end. No tears necessary - I will be starting another one in 2011 to feed my own ideas of my supposed importance in the world.

Night Sky

Rain + city skyline + clouds equal greatness. Fortunately I managed to get a few shots on from the moving car I was in as we travelled over the freeway.

Too Darn Hot

At least once a day someone gets dared to eat these exceptionally hot peppers. They were sitting in a bowl on the table and to prevent some form of a death by pepper, they have becoming hanging decorations. I guess you wouldn't eat stuff hanging from the wall as quickly as you would if it sat in a bowl, which begs the question, potpourri (really, that's how you spell that? I'm just as shocked as you are).

Hotel California

We call the house Hotel California and sometimes I'm convinced it looks like it. During this rainy Sunday morning it looked more like the deserted Hotel California.

The Photographer

The Photographer

Click, a flash. One More memory preserved.
One more picture to look back at when life
Seems to pass by. A true art to capture
The human experience. Joy. Hate. Fear.
The love of a mother. The innocence
Of a small child. The mysteries of life.

There is a strange empty feeling. Somehow,
Lost in the art. A part of my soul, gone.
The passion that once fueled the mind of
Rebel, now withering away like flowers
In winter, covered in snow, awaiting
Their demise. A part of my soul, only,
To be found in one more faded picture.
Perhaps my memories are unfulfilled.

Target Ad

My bedroom could be an ad for Target right now. The bookshelf and the baskets come straight from the land of the red bullseye.

Cafe Monte

Having this chair and tiny desk makes part of my room look like a cafe. Now if I could afford it - I'd get one of the amazing paintings that looks like a window looking out on a scene and some cafe looking decor in order to enhance this theme. But I will still only have this tiny table.

Antique Stove

So apparently this stove is a collectible. It is worth thousands of dollars - maybe more because its a working stove. However, as great as it is to own an antique stove, I would rather sell the thing, get a stove where the knobs actually say what temp the stove is at, and forget the whole pilot light thing. Sorry stove - I just don't like you, and you constantly smell of gas. In my opinion - lets go for antique look but modern technology. Best of both worlds here...

Broken Truck

This truck has been sitting in the pseudo parking lot outside my house for the entire time that I've been there. I have a hunch it has been sitting there longer. It is clearly broken and I keep wondering if Nate is going to fix it or just is too lazy to get rid of it. I have no idea but the most fascinating is the unwanted car seat that remains on top of the truck.

Airstoft Guns

Sometimes I forget that I live in the country. I found this when I came. I hear rumors of an airsoft gun war in the future...

"Born Ready"

It was Shiloh's birthday today. Birthday's for one year olds crack me up because they aren't going to remember it. But he does enjoy playing with the balloon. I think it is favorite today.

Night Vision

I confess I've never been very good at night photography. I was trying to get the stars in the sky as well as the light overing of the small city of San Luis Obispo. I was trying to capture poetry and alas, sometimes you cannot capture what the eye sees.

Jump Rope

This is what we do at my house. The kids decide they want to jump rope so they grab a garden house and try to use it as a jump rope.

*Note - do not try this at home. It doesn't really work.

New Bedding for a Queen

Now I know you can't tell this by the picture but I get the proud pleasure of sleeping in a queen sized bed. This is half the bed. I promise (even though it does look like a queen. Just add another half in your mind and there you go.

Breakfast with Boaz

This kid loves me. I've lived with him for barely a week and he follows me around like we've known each other for a lifetime. He also is fond of stories but of course he speaks 5 year old (which I can barely understand) so I just nod my head and smile.

Wall Art

Even though I'm moving out of my dad's house shortly - I could not help myself from entering project mode.

This time: decorate the walls. I say it is one of my better creations - if only I didn't have to take it down in about a week and a half.

Landscaping

My dad finally finished the landscaping for his house. This was a year long project (maybe even more). He has roses along the side of the house, lights along the pathway, and yard finally full of grass (rather than dirt). It actually looks like someone lives here...

Star Wars Painting

When I was like eleven or twelve my dad had this friend who was a painter. They offered my dad a painting for my sister and I, from any picture we could choose. My sister, being a year younger found a picture of a cute puppy. And I, well as you can see, chose this Star Wars image. Some day this will be make my husband happy - hopefully he likes Star Wars as much as I do.

Balcony

This was my spot three years ago. Since I lived in an upstairs apartment, I would come out here all the time to talk, to think, or just to be.

This time around at FUI - I've spent very little time up here. Not that I don't want to (ok maybe I'm a little grossed out by some of the furniture) but I just don't need to be here all the time. But it still manages to be a great place to take pictures.

The City

"Sing to the Lord a new song
For he has done marvelous things;
His right hand and his holy arm
Have worked salvation for him.
The Lord has made his salvation known
And revealed his righteousness to the nations.
He has remembered his love
And his faithfulness to the house of Israel;
All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
Should for joy to the Lord, all the earth,
Burst into Jubilant song with music;
Make music to the Lord with the harp,
With the harp and the sound of singing,
With trumpets and the blast of the ram's horn -
Shout for joy before the Lord, the King.
Let the sea resound, and everything in it,
The world and all who live in it.
Let the rivers clap their hands,
Let the mountains sing together for joy;
Let them sing before the Lord,
For he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness
And the people with equity."

Psalm 98
