Momentous Occasion for Hercules

My car, Hercules, had a momentous occasion today. He finally reached 100,000 miles. He's been a good car, has been with me through a lot of times. And I hope to make it through 100,000 more miles with him.

Tyrone Wells

Two years ago my wonderful area cord decided that our area meeting (which met during the UU concert hour) was best served by seeing the Tyrone Wells concert. And to see him come back - made me want to tell him my story. While I never told Tyrone - I did tell everyone sitting around me.

Toasts

What you may not be able to tell from this picture is there is about 50 people in my house right now, and each of us has a plastic champagne fluke full of sparkling cider because this is what our leader meetings look like. If only this was every meeting, that would be amazing. No, this is a special occasion, where we toasted to God and to each other for what happened this year. No tears - that I saw - so that was pretty unusual.

Unity Night

This is the second year in a row I've participated in Unity Night Last minute. Last year I was in a skit that we asked to put in the program like a week before, this year I asked our worship leader if he needed help and three days before I was put in the worship band.

Bosnia Breakfast Burrito Bonanza

Yes it was a Bonanza bash of epic proportions. This is the standard fundraiser for the Bosnia team. But the alliteration used here reminds me of in the 7th grade my teacher had a review game for one of her test called the Bodacious Bible Bumble Bowl and my team was the Bodacious Bible Bumblebees. But that has nothing to do with this picture.

Bachelorette Party

The night included: dinner at Upper Crust (with free cheesecake as you can see here)
Cocktails at Bufflaos
Ice Cream at Bali's
Shots (Irish Carbombs) at Downtown Brew
Dancing at Downtown Brew
Shots (Blow Jobs) at McCarthy's

Because I gave up alcohol for lent - it was a very interesting downtown experience. Needless I was not happy that my first downtown experience was being the designated driver. I will look back on this day and find it ironic and amusing but not now.

Hidden in a Box

Inside this box are the secrets of Cal Poly students.

My secret: Every time I'm near this box and I see someone put an anonymous one in, I want to take it out and read it. It takes a lot of strength not to.

What's the Deal with Secrets?

This week IVSLO is allowing the space for Cal Poly students to share their secrets with everyone by writing them on cards and posting them on giant boards (which you can't see) - our campus is too bottled up  and needs to experience God's healing from secrets and masks.

P.S. The Burlap smells. It also reminds me of the last major outreach we did - Impact One where we talked about AIDS in Africa. The grass is still healing from our giant tent (three years ago)

Secrets Unveiled: The Preparation

The afternoon was spent painting, constructing, and sewing burlap for our Secrets Outreach happening next week. I think I spent more time taking pictures of other people doing work than I actually did work myself.

For those in SLO come by Dexter Lawn Tuesday - Thursday to see our Secrets Unveiled event. And on Friday at 7 pm in the Business Silo. It will be worth your time.

Super Bowl

We had an amazing super bowl party at our house. This was a part of the potluck feast we enjoyed. The pigs in a blanket were my creation.

We are cheering on the Saints. Good thing they won. (Good thing I paid attention to the game to see who won).
