Thursday Fun Day

Part One: head to the beach where Jill and I dominated the volleyball court (but not really).

Part Two: Take epic jumping photos. This is one is the audition for a new superhero league.

Part Three: make stupid faces to try to get Shin to say more than one sentence every day.

All and all - Thursday Fun Day was the best day ever. Credential students know how to have fun and color.

Outsiders Project

Today I was in the classroom for most of the day. I observed at Laguna Middle School and the 7th graders just finished their the book, The Outsiders. During the break I snuck a peak at their projects. I was highly impressed by this one. If only I had artistic skills like this 12 year old.

EDUC 480 Research

This are some of the photos I've been collecting for my EDUC 480 (technology in the classroom) projects. Apparently I have know what input devices are (things you can plug into the computer).

Yes and I have to know this to get my technology certificate to teach in the classroom.

Undeveloped Frontal Lobes

Since I cannot attend the credential BBQ - Michelle had the brilliant idea to take my photo and bring it with her. That way I can attend the BBQ in spirit. This then resulted in about five minutes of funny pictures of my face and three minutes of Professor Clark staring at us in amazement. He's probably thinking how our frontal lobes aren't fully developed.

BBQ! Saturday! 'Nough Said

I wish passionately desire that I could could attend this BBQ. It is for all the credential students and it would be AMAZING! I am excited to go to Mark's wedding but I am missing out on this. :(

Building Blocks

Today in my education class we used to tiles to understand prime numbers. Then we created towers and casatles of them. Of course that meant our teacher had to tell us to put them away because we would be distracted the whole lesson. Sometimes being and education major is fun.

Area 52

Our campus is a construction zone. I wonder if our classes are getting in the way of their building projects. First the rec center, then the U.U., now the Spider building (aka building 52/ science building). I swear, it is the most annoying thing ever.

Graduation Tassels

When I look at my graduation tassels and how they reflect either the school colors (high school) or the college within the college I was in (Cal Poly) I am now reminded that I am currently in the College of Science and Math.

Here's how it works.

a.) The School of Education (used to be the College of Education) was absorbed into the College of Science and Math in 2009. This is support the Liberal Studies studies who take more math/science classes than english/history
b) The School of Education includes Liberal Studies/multiple subject teaching credential programs and Single Subject credential programs
b) English Single subject program is a part of the school of Education

therefore I am in the college of Science and Math.

Confused? Welcome to my life.

More Editing Fun

I have had some down time recently and have enjoyed going over some of my older photos. These are from a photoshoot with my SGLT group. The weather was perfect that day - cloudy but not rainy, the people were awesome and enjoyed tolerated having their pictures taken every five seconds. But these are some of my favorite close ups of the boys.

I thought about making this one black and one but I realized I liked the colors much too much to get rid of them.

Officially...

It's official!! I have graduated from Cal Poly. And this flimsy piece of paper is all I have to show for four years of hard work and money invested into that school.

But it still looks pretty cool.

Graduation!

4 years later:

- I changed my major only once
- I read a lot of books I tried to avoid in high school
- I stopped caring about my GPA when I got my first C in a class (thanks biology!)
- I lead two AWESOME bible studies
- I went on a mission trip to Fresno and decided to go back a lot
- I had an awesome roommate for three years
- I took more pictures than more people do in a lifetime
- I had three cameras total
- I lost some family members, gained perspective
- Gained student loans :)
- Had late night adventures
- Tried new things, found new problems
- Took a lot of risks
- Still have never broken a bone (and it will never happen I hope)
- Still never got a speeding ticket
- Joined the best club ever
- Bought too many Cal Poly sweatshirts
- Love a lot of people
- Grew up, forgave much

Even as college is over (and I won't get too sentimental) I can look back at all the awesome pictures I took (which are a lot) and remember the fond times, the crazy adventures, and the transformations I experienced in only four years.

That's the Key

That is my friend Jeanette - and she is performing Hot and Cold with her acapella group, "That's the Key." They are officially awesome. I give my two thumbs up for them - possibly better than Take It SLO - with enough publicity that is.

Tyrone Wells

Two years ago my wonderful area cord decided that our area meeting (which met during the UU concert hour) was best served by seeing the Tyrone Wells concert. And to see him come back - made me want to tell him my story. While I never told Tyrone - I did tell everyone sitting around me.

Graduation Cupcakes

So my boss today made graduation cucpakes for myself and Kate who are both graduating this year. She does something like for every person who graduates from our office - I also received a Worst Case Survival Guide: Work book. It has everything you need to know about surviving work such as how to deal with a mean boss to how to get a job you aren't qualified for.

Plaid

We went out to Red Robin for Jeanette's birthday (because she gets a free hamburger) and Meghan, myself, and Josiah all wore plaid. It is definitely the cool thing to do.

Finally!!!

It only took two quarters but the construction is 90%. We had our first concert in the UU plaza (which of course I couldn't go to because of work) but still - I can finally walk through this instead of all the way around the bookstore.

My New Best Friend

Meet my new best friend: Virginia Woolf. Yes I know she's dead - but I spend more time with her books than I do real people some days. I guess that's my own fault for taking a Virginia Woolf seminar. (And yes - by the end of the quarter I will have read all those books you see stacked up there).

Campus Dining Ambassador

This is my shirt I get to wear for the next two days. It's a part of the new campus dining ambassador program - where we walk around campus during Open House making sure no one is lost.

And I get paid for it.
