Portfolio

Just some of my previous works, should anyone want engagement photos (photo 1), christmas/birthday gifts (photo 2), or family photos (photo 3). This also shows I did not get out today to take pictures so I had to rummage through the old files. Still these are pretty good.

Secrets Unveiled: The Preparation

The afternoon was spent painting, constructing, and sewing burlap for our Secrets Outreach happening next week. I think I spent more time taking pictures of other people doing work than I actually did work myself.

For those in SLO come by Dexter Lawn Tuesday - Thursday to see our Secrets Unveiled event. And on Friday at 7 pm in the Business Silo. It will be worth your time.

Rain, oh Rain

Rain has come back to SLO for another visit. And much like all her visits, she is fickle about how long she wants to hang around. She'll cause some trouble for an hour or two before leaving and letting the sun come out to play. And just as you think the rain is gone for the day, she'l come back out in heavy storms, dampening what was just becoming dry. That is just the way she rolls.

O'Conner Way

Isn't San Luis Obispo beautiful? This is across the street from my friend Miranda's house but it looks like we're out in the middle of nowhere (nope just off Foothill Blvd.)

Rejoice

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
(Philippians 4:6-7)

What Consumes My Time

What will I do with a BA in English? Who cares, I'll have a bigger and better library than you.
Notice the tabs - yes that makes me look smarter when I carry around books with tabs and underlining.

Chocolate Goldfish

Yes they do exist. This is not a lie or a photoshopped image. There is such a thing as chocolate goldfish. A WONDERFUL study snack.

This is the reason you know there is one.

Background

This is my background to my computer. Catalina Island. Spring Break Camp. God's beauty at work and really there is not much else I need to do as a photographer. I love looking at this every time I turn on my computer.

Patriotic Jello

Jonah and I are watching the olympics and a commercial comes on for Subway and long story short - there was a girl in the commercial who had the word "any" in jello (trying to say any sandwich is $5 footlong). As I watched I exlaimed: "I want Jello!" So I found jello in cupboard and made it. Then I forced Jonah to buy cool whip (thanks btw). After two hours of nagging later (Jonah asked every 10 minutes if the Jello was done) I finally had solid jello. So then I decided to make it patriotic (in honor of our Olympic athletes) by using red food coloring.

Oh they were so delicious.

A Field of Flowers

My friend Jonah tells me that there is a large field of flowers so we drive over there with no other purpose but a photoshoot.

I even let Jonah take a few herself. I know I'm out of focus but it has a real artistic quality to it. And the flowers are so beautiful.

Dwight

Bobblehead Dwight is awesome.
He agrees with everything I say.
A perfect desk companion (along with my many toys and knick-nacks. Stay tuned to see more).

Birthday Present

So my mom got a Wii from her class for her birthday.

I wish they had given it to her on Friday so I could have used it. I so want to borrow it - I think my roommates would it enjoy it.

Rose Bowl

To do: hike around the Rose Bowl
To check: if the trail still exists
To find out: the trail was washed out by the rain.
Good plan Mom.

Valentines Day Cards

Best Valentines Day card ever. I got it from my mom. And these are my favorite Up! quotes:

Carl: "Hey, let's play a game. It's called: 'see who can be quiet the longest.'"
Russell: "Cool! My mom loves that game!"

Alpha: "Now you must wear the cone of shame."
Doug: "I do not like the cone of shame."

Doug: "Hey, I know a joke! A squirrel walks up to a tree and says, 'I forgot to store acorns for the winter and now I am dead.' Ha! It is funny because the squirrel gets dead."

Doug: "I hid under your porch because I love you."

My Tropical Bedroom

As that is two out of the three postcards that are on my wall in my bedroom at my mom's house. My aunt painted them years ago for a Christmas present. Since that painting, we gave the room a tropical theme.

My mom may think this tree is hers but she is mistaken. This tree belongs to me and I plan on taking my fake palm tree with me when I move again (The lights too - I put colored lights on during Christmas time).

Vista Point

Every time I drive home, I always want to stop and take pictures. On my ride home today, I finally pulled off to a Vista Point and snapped away. It was worth it, and made up for the future horrible traffic I was about to endure.

Squash

Yum! Sarah experiments with a squash dish. It was yummy.
Fun fact: When I was little I ate so many yellow/orange vegetables that my skin started turning orange. True story.

Favorite Fremont Freshman

After the Fremont bible study (Philippians 3) Sarah and I took an amazing picture. She is one of my favorite freshman.

But during the bible study we played this funny game. We answered five questions and then when one person read the answers aloud one person was elected to guess. The questions were
1. What would you do if you were invisible
2. If you had to, who in this room would you eat (I was chosen twice!)
3. If you were stuck in any movie, what movie would it be?
4. If you could have breakfast/lunch/dinner with any person (dead or alive) who it would be?
5. If you could have any other talent, what would it be?

Web of Death

It's official name is the "Web of Life" but the regulars who call the UU a second home know it by its more common name - the "Web of Death." This dangerous thing has poked, scraped, stabbed, and injured countless Cal Poly students. Whoever designed it was not thinking clearly - and whoever decided to put it there should have had the brains to put it about two feet higher. I demanded it be taken down two years ago - and I have yet to see results. Can we at least call it a fire hazard and burn the darn thing?

Light Box

We have a light box at work and I got to use it today to take these promo photos. Pretty amazing - I know. I wanted to steal the light box but I didn't.

Super Bowl

We had an amazing super bowl party at our house. This was a part of the potluck feast we enjoyed. The pigs in a blanket were my creation.

We are cheering on the Saints. Good thing they won. (Good thing I paid attention to the game to see who won).

Don't Cry for Me Argentina

The musical of the day: Evita.

I have never seen this musical before I watched in on Netflix and was very impressed by Antonia Banderas, Madonna, and Jonathan Pryce as the leads in the movie. We will be studying this show later in my History of Musical Theatre class. We will be going over the song "Another Suitcase in Another Hall" which was not may favorite in the show. My favorite was "Waltz for Eva and Che" (neither the most popular song from the show "Don't Cry for Me Argentina"). Either way, I would recommend seeing this rock opera.

P.S. Be prepared to see my other musicals of the day recommendations. I absolutely LOVE musicals.

The Wells Fargo Lake

Wells Fargo has its own lake. See below for a better view of how deep this thing is:

I'm not quite sure how this happened (besides the obvious rain) but there you have it - a lake right in the middle of a parking lot.

Pathways

I love pathways. The are one of my favorite things to photograph ever. Especially cobblestone or brick paths. There is something so artistic and meaningful when taking a picture of a pathway - and something hidden in the picture. The question as simple as "where does the path lead to" must be asked when looking into this picture and it draws the audience within their own imagination of what is beyond the scope of the lens.

Ricky and Lucy

How awesome are they!!! Ricky and Lucy are my little dancing toys. You wind them up and they dance. Best Christmas present EVER!

Office

So I don't have a permanent desk at my office. This is my office chair when Kate works. The chair sucks but the screen is nicer.

And this is my desk when Erica works. The chair is amazing but the screen is not as good.

This may sound boring but I spend about 14 hours a week in this little place.

My Favorite Picture

Pure awesomeness. I really love that vest too.
