Cesar Chavez Day

Thanks to Cesar Chavez for not only the amazing work he has done with labor rights and immigrant workers - but he also gets me a day off of school.

This allowed me to go to the beach for a bit and take a short retreat day and chill with these seagulls.

Don't Feed the Squirrels

Seriously these squirrels were begging me for some tasty treat. I was a little afraid they were going to bite me. At first I was like "awesome, these squirrels are really posing for my pictures" but then I was like "these squirrels are giving me the evil eye" and then I was like "they are going to to bite me the little nasty beasts."

You know they are serious when they say "Don't Feed the Squirrels" because these buggers were all over me trying to get food - and it was creepy. They are not house pets people.

The Long Overdue 1:1

I should make an album of all the people I take to HighStreet Deli - maybe I'll get a discount. Well Matt and I needed to have a 1:1 and we finally made it happen at the happiest place on earth (no, not Disneyland) - HighStreet Deli!

Hector

I don't know what it is about this tree but I love it. It resides in our backyard and I love how its branches extended every which way - as if it is praising God for creating it.

I think I'll name the tree Hector. If the tree praises God, it should have a name.

Omelets

At our last day at camp we had an Omelet station. Normally I would have put our group picture but the Omelet station picture was too awesome to pass up. What kind of camp has an omelet station? Seriously they had the best food ever. It was so amazing.

Spin Wheel of Death

This is officially one of the worst ideas ever. It didn't end disaster but only by the grace of God.

Lady Bugs

Chelsey, Marissa, and I went on a hiking adventure and found hundreds of lady bugs. Apparently there are millions in the area - we didn't find the huge swarms of them so they are still beautiful.

Manuscript

Since I have already two posts about Spring Break Camp I should probably describe what it is. We take a manuscript of a book of the bible (like the one above) and write all over it - marking it with colored pencils and markers and such. We make connections to other Old Testament references, looking for images, connections and overall themes.

The first time you attend SBC you study the first half of the gospel of Mark, the second time you go study the second half of Mark. Then you are left to the hands of fate, or God, to decide what you will study next. Last year it was 1 Corinthians, this it was Amos.
And if you ever studied Amos - he is hardcore that's for sure.

Playing in the Snow

Day Two of Spring Break Camp:
Featuring: Snow!
So there was snow at camp. It provided for a great amount of fun and snow ball fights.

Trespassing

On our way to Spring Break Camp in the Sequoia Mountains - our car decided to take a quick adventure. That meant pulling off the to the side of the road, crawling under a barb wire fence, and crossing into what was most like private territory. Sure we may have been trespassing, but I would consider it exploring.  But we didn't harm anything - just looked around.

And this is what we found so it was worth it.

Lady Gaga?

Is this my friend Jane or Lady Gaga? If only you could see the the rest of her outfit - then you would be really scared, as I was. She apparently dressed up for her cast - who loves Lady Gaga. I am not so thrilled about the singer - I do not understand her or her fashion sense.

Why we saw Jane dressed like this: we went to see the Night of One Acts at APU - and Jane was the writer/director of one of the acts. It was of course amazing, just as I knew it would be.

Oh and if Jane dresses like this again (other than for Halloween or a costume related event) I will revoke our friendship.

And really what kind of name is Lady Gaga? Ok - enough of that rant.

Sunset Roll

Out of the many people I enjoy eating sushi with only two others seem to like eel. It is delicious - I don't know why people have such hate towards it. Eel sauce on the other - quite popular. Such a quandary and with finals over, I actually have time to ponder it.
No matter - I will eat this Sunset Roll and enjoy the eel.

To Ireland? Or not to Ireland?

I wish I was here - I know its not Ireland but even more special.
Although Ireland would be nice - as long as it includes a pub. It seems like the Irish thing to do.

That's as festive as I get for St. Patrick's Day.

Side Show

I went to see the musical Side Show over the weekend. It's a story about conjoined twins and their rise to stardom. Anyway thanks to my iMac - this is what I would look like a conjoined twin. Now I've got work on my singing act.

Yet Another Visit

I should get commission for how many people I introduce to High Street Deli.

Bachelorette Party

The night included: dinner at Upper Crust (with free cheesecake as you can see here)
Cocktails at Bufflaos
Ice Cream at Bali's
Shots (Irish Carbombs) at Downtown Brew
Dancing at Downtown Brew
Shots (Blow Jobs) at McCarthy's

Because I gave up alcohol for lent - it was a very interesting downtown experience. Needless I was not happy that my first downtown experience was being the designated driver. I will look back on this day and find it ironic and amusing but not now.

Beauty in the Ordinary

It's nice to take a moment and find beauty in the ordinary things of life.

Then I have to come back to reality and study for finals. Woot. (Not)

Hidden in a Box

Inside this box are the secrets of Cal Poly students.

My secret: Every time I'm near this box and I see someone put an anonymous one in, I want to take it out and read it. It takes a lot of strength not to.

What's the Deal with Secrets?

This week IVSLO is allowing the space for Cal Poly students to share their secrets with everyone by writing them on cards and posting them on giant boards (which you can't see) - our campus is too bottled up  and needs to experience God's healing from secrets and masks.

P.S. The Burlap smells. It also reminds me of the last major outreach we did - Impact One where we talked about AIDS in Africa. The grass is still healing from our giant tent (three years ago)

Slow Cooked Chili

It was my night to cook roommate dinner so I decided to choose a recipe that use my new Crock Pot (that I got as a Christmas gift and hadn't even opened yet). The chili was a big success (complete with cornbread muffins).

I found this lovely flower hidden in our orange tree.

Out of Focus

At first I was going to retake this picture but then I decided that I liked the fact that it was out of focus and my eyes were drawn to the reds dots first then the trophy second.

Now to the story behind the trophy - that is the Melissa Montecuollo Memorial Award - it is awarded to stage crew members who work so hard for a MHS production that they should have died. I was the first recipient as a stage manger for Oklahoma! At one point there was even a plaque but I haven't been back to my high school in such a long time I don't know.

The trophy does still hang out on my desk along with my other fun things.

To Do List

It is quite possible that I made a To Do List to take a picture of it. But I do have to do most of those things. I'm taking a crack at World Peace and Cure for Cancer this week. Hopefully I'll have time.

Dew Drops

Water drops on flowers increases its beauty. I don't know why but it truly does.

Note:
Yes it increases the beauty of leaves too. Which is what this picture portrays - as I was corrected.

Point = Water drops are just amazing.

My Favorite Picture - Part 2

So on February 1st I posted one of my favorite pictures of myself. Since I am rarely (if ever) in my own pictures this might be a common thing to feature a self-portrait at the beginning of each month. We'll see if this catches on. Anyway this is my choice for March.

Speaking of all things awesome - Boggle. New favorite game.
